RMC – System Level Design
Step 1 – System Level Design
The Base-Station will connect to a PC via a USB cable. The functionality of this USB cable is two fold: transfer the music from the computer to be sent and to send query commands to the computer. These query commands will be interpreted by a service/process within Windows/Linux. Once, the service/process detects that a command has been sent it will query a MySQL database, find the specified file and start the transfer process.

The Remote Media Controller will send commands and receive the digital audio. Users will be able to query the MySQL database for music via the touch screen and these query results will be displayed on the Color LCD Screen. Once Songs have started transferring from the Base-Station they will be received and transferred to SD Card acting as a storage buffer. Once the songs have been played and an adequate amount of type has lapsed or the need for more storage space has risen, then the previously played songs will be purged from the SD Card.
